Hello my first post here,im looking at buying the Nokia 5800 phone for the 3 network the 3 store dont stock it even though carphonewarehouse have it in store but on display only and is on the 3 network but on their site they say its only available on O2 and Vodafone , and have no idea when its availble. But meteor have it and at a cheaper price aswell.

Does anyone have this phone did you buy it from carphonewarehouse and if you did was it on the 3 network.

Also if you buy it from Meteor do you get the 8gig memory card with it on pay as you go.Ive read on other sites you dont get it, but it seems to be standard in box accessories on other sites any truth to this.

If i do buy it from Meteor would i be able to unlock it for the 3 network and have msn skype and the such,or should i bide my time and wait for carphonewarehouse to get it in and buy it there.

Hi,

I've had the Nokia 5800 about 4/5 weeks now. I was with bill pay on O2 but it was €199 with my upgrade, my "Silver Upgrade", which was the same price for new customers . It was €130 on Vodafone and the time my contract was up it was only €50 on Meteor, so I got it with Meteor on their lowest tariff :). I got the 8GB card with mine, earphones, TV cables etc.

I initially got it to sell it and make a quick profit :D, but I love it. I haven't had a good Nokia in about 2 years, I was using the SE K800i. I was put off with Symbian Nokias in the past because I found them very slow.

The Nokia 5800 on the other hand is a very good Nokia, I'll hold onto it for a while.

No matter what network you buy it from, we can unlock it for you. You can also use any program on it you like, it doesn't have to be on the 3 network to enjoy the full features of this phone.

Here is a great thread on Boards.ie (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055390696) full of information on it :)

Hello Patrick

Yes it looks a great phone wifi gps nokia maps, the reason i want it on 3 is i would get msn free which i like if i got the phone unlocked and unbranded but still wanted to stay on the 3 network would this affect me getting msn for free again on 3.

Hi,

See the attachment below, it's Windows Live Messenger for the Nokia 5800, I've just put it on my Nokia 5800 and it works perfectly.

It's free to use over Wifi obviously, but I don't know the costs via a network.
